According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), our bodies follow a 24-hour internal clock where each organ has a peak period of activity. Disruptions in this rhythm can explain why we often wake up at certain hours during the night.
The Nighttime Hours & What They Mean
11 PM – 1 AM (Gallbladder)
Waking during this time may indicate stress, indecision, or difficulty processing emotions.
Fix: Practice relaxation techniques before bed, such as meditation or gentle stretching.
1 AM – 3 AM (Liver)
Often linked to anger, frustration, or toxin buildup in the liver.
Fix: Avoid alcohol and heavy meals at night. Incorporate liver-supporting foods like leafy greens and lemon water.
3 AM – 5 AM (Lungs)
