Set your oven to 160°C (320°F). Grease and line a cake pan with parchment paper.
Melt Butter:
Gently melt the butter over low heat or in a microwave. Allow it to cool slightly.
Separate Eggs:
Separate the egg whites from the yolks.
Whip Egg Whites:
Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gradually add half of the sugar while whipping to create a glossy meringue.
Mix Yolks & Sugar:
In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the remaining sugar until thick and pale.
Combine Ingredients:
Gently fold the egg yolk mixture into the whipped egg whites. Slowly fold in the melted butter until fully incorporated, being careful not to deflate the batter.
Bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden and a skewer comes out clean.
Cool:
Let the cake cool completely before removing from the pan and slicing.
