In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
Add the warm milk, softened butter, and egg.
Mix until a sticky dough forms.
2. Knead the Dough
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5–7 minutes.
3. First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap.
Let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
4. Shape the Loaf
Punch down the dough to release air.
Divide into 3–4 equal portions and shape each into a ball.
Arrange the balls in a greased loaf pan.
5. Second Rise
Cover and let the dough rise again for 30–45 minutes, until puffy.
6. Bake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Brush the top with milk or an egg wash for a golden finish.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
