Preheat Oven & Prepare Pan
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a 9-inch (23 cm) round or square cake pan.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
Cream Butter & Sugars
In a large bowl, beat softened butter with granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
Combine Wet & Dry Ingredients
Mix in yogurt (or sour cream) to the butter mixture.
Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.
