Preheat Oven & Prepare Pan: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round or square cake pan.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
Cream Butter & Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add Eggs & Vanilla: Beat in eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
Combine Wet & Dry Ingredients: Mix in the flour mixture alternately with yogurt (or sour cream) until just combined. Do not overmix.
Add Peaches: Gently fold in sliced peaches, reserving a few slices for the top.
Assemble & Bake: Pour batter into prepared pan, smooth the top, and arrange remaining peach slices on top. Sprinkle with brown sugar if desired. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool & Serve: Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
💡 Tips:
For extra flavor, drizzle a little honey over the warm cake before serving.
Add a handful of chopped pecans or almonds for a crunchy texture.
