How to Repair a Leather or Imitation Leather Bag

1. Clean the Bag Thoroughly

Wipe the surface with a damp cloth and mild soap or leather cleaner.

Remove dust, dirt, and oils.

Let the bag dry completely before proceeding.

2. Trim and Smooth Damaged Areas

Use scissors to remove loose threads or jagged edges from scratches or tears.

Lightly sand rough or peeling areas with fine-grit sandpaper for a smooth surface.

3. Repair Tears or Holes

For small tears: apply a thin layer of leather or fabric glue to the edges and press together.

For larger holes: use a leather patch from a repair kit. Cut it to size, apply adhesive, and press firmly.

4. Fill Cracks or Deep Scratches

Apply a leather filler (usually included in repair kits) into scratches or cracks.

Smooth with a spatula or your finger.

Let it dry according to instructions, then gently sand to even out the surface.
