In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar, and garlic powder. Add the pork riblets and mix until evenly coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.
2. Coat the Ribs:
Remove ribs from the marinade, shaking off excess liquid. Coat each rib evenly with cornstarch. This will give the ribs a crispy exterior when fried.
3. Deep-Fry the Ribs:
Heat 4 ¼ cups of oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully fry the ribs in batches for 6–8 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
4. Prepare the Honey Garlic Glaze:
In a large skillet, heat 2 tbsp oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Stir in honey, sugar, and salt, mixing well.
5. Coat the Ribs:
Add the fried ribs to the skillet and toss gently until every piece is coated with the honey-garlic glaze. Sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
6. Serve:
Serve immediately while hot and crispy. These ribs pair well with steamed rice, stir-fried vegetables, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
Tips & Variations
Extra crispy: Double-fry the ribs for added crunch.
Spicy twist: Add ½ tsp chili flakes to the glaze.
Oven option: For a lighter version, bake the coated ribs at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes before glazing.
