Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
Grease individual ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.
2. Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water, melt the chocolate and butter together until smooth.
Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
3. Mix Eggs and Sugar
In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract until pale and fluffy.
4. Combine Ingredients
Gently fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture.
Sift in the flour and salt, folding carefully to maintain airiness.
5. Fill the Ramekins
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling about 3/4 full.
6. Bake
Bake for 10–12 minutes. The edges should be set, but the center remains soft.
Remove from oven and let sit for 1 minute.
7. Serve
Carefully run a knife around the edges and invert onto plates.
Dust with powdered sugar or garnish with berries, and serve immediately while the lava center is molten.
