Chocolate Orange Cake

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Prepare Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, combine eggs, vegetable oil, fresh orange juice, vanilla extract, and orange zest.

Combine & Make Batter

Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, stirring until smooth and fully combined.

Bake Cake Layers

Divide batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Assemble the Cake

Spread a layer of orange marmalade on the first cake layer, then top with whipped cream.

Place the second cake layer on top.

Prepare Ganache & Glaze

Heat heavy cream in a small saucepan until just simmering. Pour over dark chocolate and stir until smooth.

Pour ganache over the top of the assembled cake, letting it drip down the sides.

Decorate & Serve

Garnish with fresh orange slices or additional zest if desired. Slice and enjoy!

Tips:

For extra flavor, soak the cake layers lightly with orange liqueur before spreading the filling.

Use high-quality cocoa and chocolate for the richest taste.

Chill the cake for 30 minutes after adding ganache for a neater finish.
